
Claims Requiring Pre-Approval
Up until now, we have followed a verbal policy of not billing certain types of claims without written pre-approval. To ensure clarity and consistency, we have formalized this policy and made it an official requirement. You can now find this list in the “Helpful Resources” section of your portal for easy reference. This will help clarify which types of claims require pre-approval and eliminate any uncertainty.
The list is as follows:
• Fence ONLY
• Auto/RV
• Ingress/Egress ONLY
• Standing Lightning Strike**
• Utilities ONLY
• Metal Canopies
• Items that can be considered Personal Property***
**Standing Lightning Strike: has not fallen and impacted a covered structure.
***Personal Property: any item that can be easily moved to another property.
Effective immediately this list is non-negotiable, and failure to obtain the written pre-approval may lead to GIB’s denial of the claim.
